Brambell's Five Freedoms have been a standard for assessing animal welfare since 1965. They are Freedom from pain, injury, and disease, freedom to express normal behavior and freedom from fear and distress. Methods that utilize shock, prong and choke collars (and other methods that inflict pain or fear, determined by the animal and not the person) have been proven to slow down the learning process and place stress on the animal, which can result in both short-term and long-term psychological damage and lead to fearful, anxious, and/or aggressive behavior.
Click below for position statement explaining the proven behavioral science why we do not allow the use of these collars on our dogs, and neither should you. These are not necessary or effective for behavior modification or training.
